Dynamedion Game Music Live In Concert

The Bielefeld philharmonic orchestra performed three Dynamedion suites at a live event in front of 10,000 spectators.

At this year’s open-air event “Let’s Play” of the Bielefelder Philharmonic Orchestra at Kesselbrink (Bielefeld, Germany), 10,000 spectators enjoyed a selection of well-known game music. The concert also featured music by our lead composer Tilman Sillescu.

The genre of computer game music is now also making its way into the conventional concert business, and the soundtracks have become just as important as the graphical representation. Computer game music is anything but easy to play, but the Bielefelder Philharmonic Orchestra mastered the tasks with perfection.

In total, more than 20 minutes of Tilman’s music from the internationally known games such as Anno 1404, Arcania: Gothic 4 and Settler 7 could be heard at the concert. Here are the first tracks of the suites that were performed by the philharmonic orchestra at “Let’s Play”.

Anno 1404: When Cultures Meet

Arcania: Maintheme

Settlers 7: Prelude

The first listeners flocked to Kesselbrink an hour before the performance began to settle down on blankets, cushions or camping chairs to get hold of the best spots. The atmosphere couldn’t have been better – people relaxing in the setting sun and listening to the music.

Even if the Bielefelder Philharmonic Orchestra still pursues its art of music-making in an analog way, their innovative programme proves that they are still operating at the pulse of time. It was an honor for us to be part of this event.

Enjoy watching some impressions of the event!

[Press Release] Dynamedion Partners with Flip Music

Dynamedion and FLIP Entertainment in new exclusive partnership to create the leading full-service music provider for the game industry. “Because any world is better with music”.

flipdynafeature

The Dynamedion Audio Group and FLIP Entertainment have inked an exclusive strategic partnership. For the first time, their combined services, products and expertise represents a one-stop shop, independent of any label, for any and all the music needs of the entire games industry.

Based on the shared belief that music should be seen by the games industry as a valuable asset rather than a cost centre, the companies will transform in-game music and audio as well as introduce new business models to out-of-game music.

Covering all aspects of the game music industry value chain, the partnership can now offer music creation, distribution, publishing and revenue generation models to suit any game developer across all platforms. Tapping into management with unrivalled expertise in this area, partners will be able to see the true value of what music can bring to the future success of their game.

The first results of this partnership is the launch of www.flipmusic.net which showcases the best in-game music from the catalogues of both companies. In-game music has a value outside of the game and the platform allows the media and entertainment industries to be able to screen tracks available for license or sync in their future projects.

Pierre Langer / DYNAMEDION

Pierre Langer, Founder & MD of Dynamedion, says “We have been successfully doing media licensing deals with our own music from games for nearly two decades now, however we never had the resources, capacities and experience to really focus on this music management and music publishing service. With Simon and Flip Entertainment we finally have found the ideal partner to push game music to the next level, making it what it is: a valuable asset by itself, bringing additional revenue, attention and cross-marketing to all involved parties.”

Over the past 18 years Dynamedion, together with its associated labels BOOM Library and Sonuscore, has become the European leader in music composition, sound design, source sound recordings, live orchestra production and audio integration services for international game audio. With over 2,000 released game, TV series, trailers, films and movies, Dynamedion stands for unsurpassed quality and integrity.

Flip Entertainment was created earlier this year by three entertainment industry executives with a combined experience of 80 years across TV, music and games in creating, publishing and licensing content. Catch & Release

Today, we’re not talking about software instruments or music compositions. Today we’d like to share something that we’re very proud of and we think it’s indeed a very interesting topic, especially for stressed composers 😉

Angel

Dynamedion, a.k.a Sonuscore’s mothership supported game developer METRICMINDS within the parameters of their “Indie Developer Program”.

The Indie Developer Program
Within this program, Dynamedion supports indie developers throughout all areas of professional audio services: starting with valuable advise, audio integration, special indie rates, special licensing options, all the way up to sound FX and music compositions. This helps indie developers keeping the budget low and at the same time keeping the quality level high.

Catch & Release
One very nice outcome of this program is the great VR game Catch & Release by METRICMINDS.
Catch & Release” is a wonderful relaxed VR simulation game with a meditative twist which has been released today on the Steam & Oculus stores.

With playful, fascinating gameplay and a special graphics style, Catch & Release offers players the opportunity to interact with a beautiful world, catch fish, find treasures, and row their own little boat through a quiet and detailed sea environment. Our composers tested it and it’s a wonderful opportunity to get out of the stress of everyday life and find new strength and inspiration.

Liliane Susewind – Ein Tierisches Abenteuer

Motion picture film “Liliane Susewind – Ein tierisches Abenteuer” (Sony Pictures Germany) with music composition and live orchestra recordings by Dynamedion.

ls_blog_2

Last Sunday, our composers Tilman Sillescu, Matthias Wolf & Chris Wirtz were invited to the movie premiere in Cologne (Germany) and we captured a picture of them on the red carpet (see below). “Liliane Susewind – Ein tierisches Abenteuer” will be shown in cinemas from May 10th with music composition and live orchestra recordings by Dynamedion.

Joachim Masannek (known for the “Die Wilden Kerle” series) created a truly wonderful children’s film, based on the famous books from Tanya Stewner and it was a great pleasure for us being a part of it.

Writing music for this imaginative story was a very special experience. Why? Read on as our Lead Composer Tilman Sillescu reveals some insights:

team_tsi

“After the many action-packed adventure movies that we have provided with music for the production company Dreamtool in the past, it was a completely new challenge to compose music for our first children’s film for the big screen. It was really great to create the film music for this beautiful setting at Paradisia Zoo together with the brilliant Riad Abdel-Nabi: a little bit of Hollywood adventure, some ethnic-exotic flavours like African flutes and Kalimbas, plus the great film songs of Riad, sung by Faye Montana, everything went perfectly together. With our Dynamedion Composerteam (Matthias Wolf, Christian Wirtz, Benny Oschmann and Steffen Brinkmann) we worked flat out for 5 months and finally recorded the music with a large full-scale symphonic orchestra. We have been working together successfully with Dreamtool for many years – it was also a new and super exciting experience to work together with director Joachim Massanek. I like to remember the 2-day spotting session with Joachim and Felix Zackor and Sybille Illner from Dreamtool in Berlin. Actually, only half a day was scheduled for the whole meeting, but late in the evening we were still not through – so I was spontaneously booked a hotel room and we made full use of the next day. In the end, we spent a good 14 hours watching the film, stopped over and over again and considered in detail how we wanted to shape the music for each individual scene. It was an intensive and exciting time for all of us and of course a great thing to experience the final result and the fascinated faces of the young spectators at the premiere.”

Dr!ft – Real Racing Simulation

DRIFT: The first model car worldwide to simulate driving dynamics of real race cars – with sound design by Dynamedion!

drift

We had the great pleasure to be part of this car racing experience: DR!FT – with sound design by Dynamedion.

Martin Müller, the founder of Sturmkind, had the vision in 2003 to finally be able to hold real car races in his own living room.

Races in which exciting overtaking manoeuvres are also possible. The idea continued to mature: The passion for realism was added to the original dream and DR!FT was born in 2015: a small car that drives true to its great role models.

Composer Matthias Wolf & marketing assistant Louisa Hesper tested the high-performance racers.

Italian racing specialist Milestone  has released Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame with sound recordings and sound effect post production by Dynamedion.

Monster Energy Supercross  is the official game of the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) Supercross Championship sponsored by Monster Energy and available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

We had the great pleasure to be part of this ultimate Supercross experience and did some dirt bike recordings in South Africa. We have recorded a total of 10 dirt bikes for the game and worked on its post production.

PBO_4_Final

“I received the raw multichannel recordings from our recordist and sound designer Tristan Horton in South Africa and started by editing and cleaning them. For the integration they used REV by Crankcase Audio so I prepared the ramps and idle loops. After that I began with mixing and tweaking the sound for the different perspectives; engine and exhaust and a mixture of both. Finally all sounds are going through the mastering process to control the loudness and make some last adjustments. I played the game myself and listening to the sounds in the finished game is really cool! I am very satisfied with the result.”
